Uh-Oh

Countess LuAnn and her husband are divorcing! Check out an article here. Honestly, I'm not surprised! She is his 4th wife which to me is a HUEG red flag, he's NEVER with her, and she seems like a pretentious bitch. I find it kind of amusing that on an episode that aired a few weeks ago, she was giving Bethenney dating advice! She might need to re-think her own advice now! I do feel bad that she has to go through this publicly (however, she is on reality TV, so it's expected), and no one deserves a cheating husband.

I found out over at Caffeine Court (who also posted this news first) that she does get to keep her title. I kind of wish she had to lose it. Would be kind of ironic since that's all she talks about!

Can't wait for tonight's episode! Looks like Kelly and Bethenney fight it out and I cannot wait to watch!

Wedding Nightmares!

I rarely remember my dreams, but when I do, they're usually more like nightmares!

I've been having a few wedding related nightmares the past couple months. One time none of my bridesmaids showed up, another time their dresses were wrong, and last night's was the worst! I dreamt that I realized at our wedding rehearsal that we didn't have a marriage license! In the dream, it was early enough for us to run to City Hall to get one, and Jeff refused to go! He was all like, "It's OK, we'll just have Pastor Scott sign it once we get back from Disney." I was freaking out saying I couldn't go on my honeymoon not being legally married, etc. I was SO mad in the dream, and woke up mad (and 15 minutes earlier than I needed to!) It was funny because I was mad at Jeff when I woke up! Thankfully for him, I didn't take it out on him, but I did tell him about the nightmare and he laughed! Luckily, I've never had a nightmare that Jeff didn't show up, and that's really the most important thing!

That nightmare combined with not sleeping well, makes for a very tired Melissa on the first day back from spring break! I have a meeting in 10 minutes, and I don't really feel like I'm even awake yet! I'm definitely going to sleep right after DWTS is over tonight, maybe earlier!

Any other brides experience wedding related nightmares before their wedding?

Tee Hee

I bought a laser pointer to see if my cat would go nuts for it, and she did! Jeff and I have been entertained all night! I stopped torturing her with it awhile ago, and she's STILL looking for the red dot on the floor and walls! Too funny!

Also, Jeff and I saw "I Love You Man" tonight and it was hysterical! You should definitely go see it! :)

All Sorts Of Stuff

* We got the invitation envelopes printed and ready to go today! My bridesmaids are coming next Saturday to help me tie ribbons on invites, put everything together, and seal the envelopes! We want the invites sent out mid-April since we are getting married on a holiday weekend! One of my bridesmaids came to visit today and she brought me my rehearsal dinner and post-wedding brunch dresses!

* Anyone else watching America's Next Top Model? I think Celia looks like a man and she had a lot of nerve tonight with what she did at the judging!

* RHNYC: Kelly is a big bitch. I don't like her at all and I think it's awful that she's famous and rich and does zero charity work! LuAnn said in her blog that she doesn't think Kelly fits in nor does she care to, and I think she's right. Why is Kelly on the show again? I think Ramona was really rude to Simon, even tho he was a bit creepy with the "Can I kiss you?" stuff. Just because you think someone is shallow, doesn't mean they're a bad person and it doesn't give you the right to be rude! You don't have to like everyone you meet, but you can be cordial and act like an adult when you see them. Alex and Simon aren't my favorites, but they're growing on me. They don't seem AS pretentious as they did last season and Alex seems to have a decent sense of humor. They'll never be my favs, but I like them a lot better than Kelly and possibly LuAnn and Ramona! I love Jill, but the whole "I'm a size zero" and being told not to eat by the designer (who was adorable and so flamboyant) thing could send out the wrong message. I love Bethenney and I think she sees through Kelly's bullshit and doesn't want any part in it. She was much better at dealing with someone she dislikes than Ramona was! Next week's previews between Kelly and Bethenney look good!

What does everyone else think?

Wedding Cake and Menu!

Our cake is going to look just like the one above, except champagne ribbon instead of pink and there will be bows on each tier as well. I was all ready to do pink, but Jeff's Aunt pointed out to me that it would look really pretty in champagne because my dress has the champagne sash, and I think she's absolutely right! There's going to be a few little flowers on the top around our cake topper as well as pink rose petals around the cake on the table. It's going to be yellow cake with vanilla buttercream filling and it's going to be sooo yummy! There won't be any fondant on it, which is kind of good, because the cake we tried tonight had fondant on it and I found it to be quite chewy and I wasn't a huge fan of it.

Here's our Wedding Day Menu:

Cocktail Hour:

Appetizers:
* Grilled Baby Lamb Chops
* Golden Sesame Chicken Filet
* Potato Pancake
* Coconut Shrimp
* Mini Grilled Cheese w/ Mini Fries (My personal favorite)
* Spicy Tuna Tartare Spoons
* Bacon Wrapped Scallops
* Asparagus with Asiago Cheese in Phyllo

Bistro Display:
* Cheese and break assortment
* Sushi Display
* Mediterranean array of vegetables, hummus, etc.
* Melon Carving with seasonal fruits

Hot Chafing Station:
* Eggplant Rollatini
* Chicken Marsala
* Fried Calamari

Carving Station:
* Turkey
* Flank Steak

Pasta Station:
* Tortellini and Penne with Alfredo or A La Vodka Sauces

Formal Sit-Down Dinner:

Appetizer:
* Grilled Vegetable Napoleon - Portabello Mushroom with eggplant, zucchini, peppers, mozzarella and onions

Salad: Vinaigrette dressing. Comes with mozzarella, tomato, lettuce (duh), enoki mushrooms, spinach, onion. We're serving the appetizer and salad together to give us more time on the dance floor!

Entrees: All served with a bundle of veggies and a potato
*Filet Mignon

*Chicken Roulade- Boneless breast stuffed with mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, and italian cheeses. This was sooooo good! We were going to go with a different chicken choice, but this one was too good to pass up!

* Cedar Smoked Salmon

* Vegetarian Entree- Veggies and cous cous with polenta and a potato

Dessert:
* In addition to the wedding cake, our guests will get a chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream.

That's a TON of food! No one will go hungry (or thirsty! We have an open bar!)

Tonight we (Jeff, myself, his mom, sister, her boyfriend, and Jeff's Aunt) tried the salad, the filet, the chicken, a sea bass that we didn't choose for the final menu, and some cake samples. Everything was absolutely delicious, HUUUGE portions, and we had such a great time! Everyone there was so nice! We were told that Jeff and I will get a bigger plate with all 3 entrees on it so we don't have to choose! The chef also said if we wanted something else like lobster, to let him know and he can do it! I think we're going to stick to the chicken and filet tho! I also got to look in the renovated ballroom and the bridal suite again. Everything is gorgeous! I asked about a million questions, got all the answers I need (such as I need to get the ribbon for the cake and get it to them 2 weeks before the wedding so it matches my sash exactly). I have lots to do, but I'm so excited and all this stuff makes it more real!

Jeff's mom also booked our brunch for the day after the wedding at the same place tonight because she loved the people there. It's all getting so close and I can't wait! :D

Random Musings

* 3 Peanuts... can I have a blog invite?

* The thank you cards for the bridal shower came and they're adorable!

* My Old Navy polos also came and they're super cute and a great length for me! I can't wait to wear them all!

* Jeff and I are off to LI tomorrow night to have our final pre-marital meeting on Friday morning AND we are tasting our wedding menu and cake and making final decisions Friday afternoon! I am SO excited and I have LOTS of questions for the reception site related to the wedding day!

* People are starting to buy stuff off our registry for my bridal shower, and that's been really fun and exciting for me to watch!

* I found a really cute trio of photo albums at Bed Bath and Beyond. One is for the bridal shower, one for the wedding day, and one for the honeymoon. It will be fun to get everyone's pictures and fill those albums up!

I'm off to read the articles for our pre-marital meeting and then watch "Make Me A Supermodel!" I love Bravo TV shows!

Have a great weekend everyone! I will post our wedding day appetizers, menu, and cake flavors as soon as we have them decided! :)

Bridal Shower- Thank You Notes

My bridal shower is May 2nd. I am so excited for it, but I don't know much about it! My MOH wants it to be a surprise! All I know is where and what time it's happening!

I want to stay on top of the thank you notes after the shower, and I found super cute ones here, which I just ordered. The site won't let me take the picture to post here, but check them out anyway! I think they're fantastic and I hope all my guests like them! :)

Recession Fashion!

Kelly  did a post on dressing cute for less, and she encouraged other bloggers to do it too, so I thought I'd share some stuff that I've found that's cute, preppy, and cheap!

I love J.Crew, but the prices are so steep, even on sale items, that I really can't justify buying as much from them as I used to. I've been loving Old Navy and Target lately for cute, inexpensive clothes!

These Old Navy polos are adorable and preppy! They're on sale for $10 and they are described as hitting below the hip. I have a long torso, so these polos will actually fit correctly and not make me look like a box! They're on sale for $10 right now! I'm going to order a few as soon as I'm done with this post!

I think this dress is great! Also from Old Navy, it's $24.50. I bought it in several colors to wear all summer and on my honeymoon.

Also Old Navy, this dress is great for the beach, dinner, going out with friends, etc. It's on sale for $15, and I have it in several colors as well! I love it!

Target doesn't have a ton I'm crazy about right now, but you should still check them out because you might find something I missed! I found these cute flip flops for $12.99. They come in several colors and I love sparkly shoes!
Where do you shop for cute clothes on a budget? Let me know if you do a post like this so I can check it out! :)

Real Housewives of NYC

I have many thoughts on this episode, mostly about LuAnn, so I will save her for last.

I think it was awesome that Bethenney was on the cover of a magazine. She's self made, has worked hard for everything she has, and I'm happy for her. She's definitely one of my favorites on the show, I think she's hysterical! She took serious offense to LuAnn's retouching comment, and I can see why. I personally wouldn't get that upset because I would know it was just jealousy, but it was a hurtful comment, and we all react to things differently and some things are more offensive to people than others. I think it was great that she waited to confront LuAnn about it, and not make a scene at the American Cancer Society house.

Jill was barely in this episode, but I personally liked a lot of the fabric choices her "gay husband" picked out! Redecorating an entire house is a lot of work, and I hope she keeps her sanity through it all!

Kelly was also barely in this episode, just like the others so far this season. Why is she even on the show if they're not going to show her much? Did any of you girls read the People.com article about how she recently got arrested for punching her boyfriend in the face? Classy stuff right there.

I don't really like Ramona. Whenever she talks, I feel like her tone of voice is condescending and rude, even if she isn't meaning to be. She needs to learn to keep certain things to herself (which I will get into more below).

Alex and Simon are finally renovating their house! Thank goodness! Hopefully it turns out nice. I just read an article yesterday saying that she lost her job like thousands of other Americans. She said they might have to get rid of their nanny (boo hoo) and I bet they can't go on ridiculous shopping sprees anymore!

Ok, time for LuAnn. I liked her a lot last season. I think her true colors are starting to show through because she's used to having the cameras follow her around. I think her retouching comment to Bethenney was kind of mean. All she needed to say was how awesome it was that Bethenney got the cover and a photo spread in the magazine and leave it at that. I think she was a bit jealous, and it made me so mad that when Bethenney called her on it, she got all defensive, gave lame excuses and couldn't even say, "I'm sorry for hurting your feelings. I didn't mean to do that." It's not that hard to apologize when you offend someone, especially since she DEMANDED one from Ramona for a comment she found offensive. I don't think she has the best manners and etiquette, and everyone is seeing that, so I bet her book doesn't sell well. The comments on her blog each week have been pretty nasty, so I know I'm not the only one who feels this way! I love that Bethenney told the editor (or whatever she was) of the magazine about the incident, and the woman called LuAnn out on it at the Social Life party! I thought that was hysterical and good for Bethenney for doing that!

I thought the whole dramatic thing at the Cancer Society house was insane! Ramona made a stupid comment, what else is new. She needs to learn to not say everything that comes to mind and have some sort of filter, but LuAnn completely freaked out and overreacted! Before I go further, let me say that I have no problems with women dating men who are a bit older than them. I have friends who have married guys 10 years older, and when I broke up with my 23 year old boyfriend (I was 21, just about 22) and joined Match.com, I wanted the age range of 25-32, so I was willing to go 10 years older than me. I wanted a guy who was mature, had a promising career and was motivated to move up in his job, and had his overall act together, and I wasn't finding that with guys my age. Jeff was actually 24 when we met and almost didn't contact me because he wasn't in my age range! When I explained why I had that range, and how he fit the qualities I wanted, even thought he wasn't in the age bracket, he understood and it was fine lol. Anyway, 15 years (gap between LuAnn and her husband) is a big gap. She was 27 when they married and he was 42, that's  big difference. They're still together, so my guess is that they're doing well and they're happy. Ramona commented that The Count was an old man in his 60's. I personally don't think 60-something is that old anymore, but Ramona's statement had a little truth to it: The Count is quite a bit older than LuAnn. LuAnn got really defensive and pissed off. I think the comment was rude and said at the wrong time, and should not be done in front of the daughter, but LuAnn is pissing me off so much that I have a hard time being objective on her!

Dancing With The Stars

I really enjoyed Dancing With The Stars last night! My favorite was Melissa from The Bachelor. She had almost NO time to practice, and she was amazing! I loved seeing the judges and audience support her! After what she's been through, she deserves some good things to happen to her!

I also enjoyed watching Shawn Johnson. She was great, and I wasn't surprised by that at all. I thought Lil Kim did a really nice job as well! Steve-O did better than expected, and the Mac guy was cute. You could tell he tried really hard!

I don't really like Denise Richards in general, and Jewel's husband was pretty bad. I think he looks a million times better without his cowboy hat though! Holly Madison wasn't great either, but I give her credit for trying with only a week of practice!

Did anyone else watch? Who do you like/dislike so far?

Decision- M&Ms or Jelly Beans?

I want to thank all of you who responded with your opinion on my wedding favors so quickly! Every single one of you said go for the jelly beans and I agree with you 110% (so does my MOH, who I spoke to this afternoon during our free period).

I spoke to Jeff the second he got home from work (I couldn't wait!) and after some convincing (people don't care about the favors so much, the candy is going to get eaten, no one will remember the favors down the road, etc.) and number crunching on my part, he agreed and was impressed that I was trying to SAVE money! However, instead of only cocktail flavored jelly beans, we are going to order the Jelly Belly brand in strawberry daiquiri, strawberry cheesecake, and champagne. We even found a site that will ship the 2 strawberry ones for free, so we only have to pay shipping for the champagne ones from the Jelly Belly site! We are going to save a significant amount of money, our guests will still have a yummy favor, and everyone is happy! :)

Opinions Needed!

OK, so many of you have probably read my last post about wedding favors (if not, it's right below this post). The personalized M&M's are adorable, and we plan on getting them in pink and cream, half the load with our names and wedding date on them, the other half with no personalization. The problem is that these are going to run over $600 for the amount we need and shipping! I'm having a really hard time with that amount. It seems like a lot of money to spend on candy, and I did search around to see if ordering elsewhere would work, and it doesn't really make a difference in the price.

Anyway, the thing I need an opinion on is that I found another candy option that might be cute and is a lot cheaper! I found cocktail flavored jelly beans! I'm thinking we get the Cosmopolitan flavor, which are pink, and the Mojito, which are green. We would be spending maybe $200 instead of over $600. We would still have the name and wedding date on the favor because they're on the jar's label. I haven't really discussed this in detail with Jeff yet, but what do you girls think? The money isn't an issue in the sense that we cannot afford it, I'm just having a hard time wrapping my head around that price. Which one do you girls think sounds cuter in general?

Wedding Favors

I ordered the mini glass candy jars and labels to hold the personalized M&Ms for our wedding guests. The jars and labels are adorable and I will have to take a picture once the favors are assembled. Tonight, Jeff and I figured out how many pounds of M&Ms we needed, and the cost is astronomical! I couldn't believe it! It's also costing $77 additional to ship the candy to us! What we decided to do was get half the poundage in cream and darker pink M&Ms with our names and wedding date on them, then the other half in light pink and not customized. This cut down the price significantly, but we're still spending a small fortune on candy! I'm not ordering anything till early May, but it was nice to know how much it's going to cost us! This was the first major price shock I have had with the entire wedding, but it's going to look adorable, and Jeff pointed out that it's only about $7-$8 per guest, which isn't terrible I guess? Jeff seems to think it's OK...

We considered personalized Hershey Kisses, but decided they wouldn't look as nice in the jars. Other candy isn't really an option because we really want something with our names and wedding date on them.

What did you girls have/want to have as wedding favors?

The Bachelor, RH NYC, Top Chef

Spoilers obviously!

I love me some reality TV!

I didn't really watch much of The Bachelor's second After The Final Rose special last night because it was on at the same time as RH NYC and the whole thing was mainly a repeat of what happened on Monday night and I didn't care to watch him be a jackass again. I heard Melissa wrote a letter or something? I missed that! Was it anything good? All I really saw was some of the other girls talk about what happened. I liked the one who didn't sugarcoat her feelings about the situation. I saw Molly and Jason talk about how they had super long and serious convos about their relationship. My feeling is if we got to see Melissa get humiliated and dumped on National TV, we should have got to see Molly and Jason's serious conversations about what happened. It seems like Melissa got the short end of the stick and is the only one who really got super exposed in a vulnerable situation. Shame on everyone involved in this whole fiasco. Melissa is better off in the end and Molly should have more pride in herself than being second choice. I'm glad I didn't waste much of my time watching this. I'm happy that Jillian is the new Bachelorette and I will probably watch her show! She seems like a sweet person.

RH of NYC is becoming my favorite of all the Housewives. The OC ladies just got so ridiculously high school catty, and Atlanta is even worse (I still watch both tho!). The NYC ladies have their drama too, but it's a bit better. My favorites are Jill and Bethenney. Jill gets herself into trouble with her mouth at times, but she means well most of the time, and you can tell she's genuinely a good, caring person. Bethenney cracks me up with the stuff she says! She has the best one liners and her imitation of Jill is amazing! I didn't like Ramona much last season, and I still don't like her, but she's annoying me a little less so far. I still find her obnoxious, she needs to watch what her mouth too. She tends to be a bit hypocritical (like in episode one where she talked about how Jill overreacts and that can get you into trouble. Pot meet kettle) and she has crazy eyes! It found it kind of funny how the new girl Kelly (She seems OK, I need to watch her more before forming an opinion) kind of blew her off at her equestrian competition. Alex and Simon creep me out a bit, even more than they did last season. I am tired of hearing Simon talk about how hot his wife is and making weird sexual comments about her ("I like dresses that are tight because it's like she's naked with a piece of fabric over her." Ewwww). I don't think Alex is ugly, and her hair definitely looks better this season, but I don't need to hear all those lusty, yucky comments! He also needs to stop wearing a Speedo, no one wants to see that! Does anyone else think he got way too thin? It looks kind of sickly to me! Finally, LuAnn. I liked her a lot last season, but this season not so much. All she does is go on and on about how she's a Countess, which really means nothing here in the USA, and she's constantly plugging her book on manners! I think she could work on hers a bit (telling Jill her kids will come help with gift bags, never bringing them over, not calling to tell Jill, and then not saying a word about it at the party). She seems very snotty and I don't like it. Her whole etiquette party for her daughter and her friends was decorated adorably (pink and green!) but that's where the fun ended. I'd hate to sit with my friend's mom and be lectured on manners, but whatever. It might be the editing, but it seemed like LuAnn put her housekeeper to work immediately after she got back from a long trip and said she was exhausted! Can't you let the woman unpack and adjust to the time change first?

I never made a post about Top Chef because I was (and still am) very mad at the choice of winner. I think if Carla did HER food, she would have won. She was on a roll and she definitely had it in her to win. Watching her fail and cry about it broke my heart. Watching Stefan comfort her made me all mushy inside. He was shown as a mean villain type, but I don't think he was. You didn't see Hosea comfort Carla! Stefan was cocky and arrogant, but most of the time he had the goods to back it up. I truly believe that they awarded the chef with the most mediocre work of the 3 the title. I think it's stupid in the FINALE for the judges to not take the entire competition's body of work into consideration and judge everything on one meal. If they did it my way, I think Stefan would have won the title. Hosea won like 2 challenges, and just happened to hit it when it mattered the most to the judges. He didn't do a dessert, which shows me he's not well-rounded, and I feel a top chef should be able to do it all! I don't really get how the judges came to their decision, and I know a lot of America agrees with me. I've seen the message boards and people are mad! I look forward to the reunion tonight to see who wins fan favorite. I think it's gonna be Carla or Fabio, and I'd be thrilled with either outcome.

The Bachelor

Obviously if you haven't see the finale, don't read this post! Its full of spoilers!

I get waaaaay too emotionally involved in my reality TV! I got super mad (still am) at Hosea winning Top Chef, and now I'm really upset with The Bachelor.

I had actually read a bunch of spoilers about a week ago saying that Jason did exactly what he did last night, so I wasn't entirely shocked, but I was disappointed that the spoilers I read were correct. I don't really understand what happened. If you're serious about someone, you don't propose marriage and then within a few weeks decide you want the other girl! I don't understand why all the bachelors feel the need to propose (I know ABC pushes them to, but still!) I personally take a marriage proposal very seriously, and I would never accept one after dating someone for 6 weeks in a fantasy land created by a huge network. Melissa seemed to be in it for the right reasons. I think she really and truly loved Jason, and what he did to her was terrible. It seems to me like he will propose to whatever girl he's dating at the time (he also proposed to DeAnna and got shot down). I think there's something off with him, and you do have to wonder why he got divorced in the first place. What an awful example to set for his son too! I genuinely liked Jason and thought he was a decent guy, but to propose to someone and then dump them for another girl on national TV is low. If he really and truly didn't want to be with her anymore, I'm sure he could have taken care of that off camera.

I heard a rumor that he wanted to choose Molly initially, and the producers made him choose Melissa so they could have this "shocking twist" on the special afterwards. If that's true, he's an even bigger ass for going long with that and toying with some poor girl's emotions. If I were Melissa, I probably would have smacked him or something! I think she was very classy about the whole situation and I wish her nothing but the best.

As for Molly, if I were her, I would have told Jason to take a hike. He dumped her on national TV! She can do better than that!

What do you guys think?

Snow Day!

We all got our wish today! Even my friends who teach in NYC got a snow day, which is amazing! NYC almost NEVER closes school! I think the last time was in 2002!

View from our front door. You can see my and Jeff's cars on the right. Someone has to go clean them later, and it hopefully won't be me! :)

View from our back door, which we never use.

I am so happy to have a slightly shorter work week! We have parent-teacher conferences Thursday and Friday, which means staying at work till 6:00 or later (I'm usually done by 4:00) so it's nice to have this day to relax! I plan on working out in awhile, and just watching TV! I'm super excited for The Bachelor tonight! I really hope he picks Melissa, and I can't wait to see what all the drama is about on the After The Final Rose Special when they air that!

Those of you who got hit with the snow storm, what are you going to do today?
