I have many thoughts on this episode, mostly about LuAnn, so I will save her for last.
I think it was awesome that Bethenney was on the cover of a magazine. She's self made, has worked hard for everything she has, and I'm happy for her. She's definitely one of my favorites on the show, I think she's hysterical! She took serious offense to LuAnn's retouching comment, and I can see why. I personally wouldn't get that upset because I would know it was just jealousy, but it was a hurtful comment, and we all react to things differently and some things are more offensive to people than others. I think it was great that she waited to confront LuAnn about it, and not make a scene at the American Cancer Society house.
Jill was barely in this episode, but I personally liked a lot of the fabric choices her "gay husband" picked out! Redecorating an entire house is a lot of work, and I hope she keeps her sanity through it all!
Kelly was also barely in this episode, just like the others so far this season. Why is she even on the show if they're not going to show her much? Did any of you girls read the People.com article about how she recently got arrested for punching her boyfriend in the face? Classy stuff right there.
I don't really like Ramona. Whenever she talks, I feel like her tone of voice is condescending and rude, even if she isn't meaning to be. She needs to learn to keep certain things to herself (which I will get into more below).
Alex and Simon are finally renovating their house! Thank goodness! Hopefully it turns out nice. I just read an article yesterday saying that she lost her job like thousands of other Americans. She said they might have to get rid of their nanny (boo hoo) and I bet they can't go on ridiculous shopping sprees anymore!
Ok, time for LuAnn. I liked her a lot last season. I think her true colors are starting to show through because she's used to having the cameras follow her around. I think her retouching comment to Bethenney was kind of mean. All she needed to say was how awesome it was that Bethenney got the cover and a photo spread in the magazine and leave it at that. I think she was a bit jealous, and it made me so mad that when Bethenney called her on it, she got all defensive, gave lame excuses and couldn't even say, "I'm sorry for hurting your feelings. I didn't mean to do that." It's not that hard to apologize when you offend someone, especially since she DEMANDED one from Ramona for a comment she found offensive. I don't think she has the best manners and etiquette, and everyone is seeing that, so I bet her book doesn't sell well. The comments on her blog each week have been pretty nasty, so I know I'm not the only one who feels this way! I love that Bethenney told the editor (or whatever she was) of the magazine about the incident, and the woman called LuAnn out on it at the Social Life party! I thought that was hysterical and good for Bethenney for doing that!
I thought the whole dramatic thing at the Cancer Society house was insane! Ramona made a stupid comment, what else is new. She needs to learn to not say everything that comes to mind and have some sort of filter, but LuAnn completely freaked out and overreacted! Before I go further, let me say that I have no problems with women dating men who are a bit older than them. I have friends who have married guys 10 years older, and when I broke up with my 23 year old boyfriend (I was 21, just about 22) and joined Match.com, I wanted the age range of 25-32, so I was willing to go 10 years older than me. I wanted a guy who was mature, had a promising career and was motivated to move up in his job, and had his overall act together, and I wasn't finding that with guys my age. Jeff was actually 24 when we met and almost didn't contact me because he wasn't in my age range! When I explained why I had that range, and how he fit the qualities I wanted, even thought he wasn't in the age bracket, he understood and it was fine lol. Anyway, 15 years (gap between LuAnn and her husband) is a big gap. She was 27 when they married and he was 42, that's big difference. They're still together, so my guess is that they're doing well and they're happy. Ramona commented that The Count was an old man in his 60's. I personally don't think 60-something is that old anymore, but Ramona's statement had a little truth to it: The Count is quite a bit older than LuAnn. LuAnn got really defensive and pissed off. I think the comment was rude and said at the wrong time, and should not be done in front of the daughter, but LuAnn is pissing me off so much that I have a hard time being objective on her!
What did everyone else think?
