Before and After

When I moved in with Jeff almost two years ago, I brought my 6 month old furniture and bedding to use in our guest room. I adore pink and green, so it was not shocking that this was my choice of bedding!

That's out cat Peanut when she was still allowed in the bedrooms!

We had been discussing the idea of new bedding for the guest room for awhile because as adorable as this is, it's super girly! The only guests we really ever have here are Jeff's mom and sister, or his dad and stepmom. On a rare occasion, one of my brothers might stay over, so the bedding wasn't a HUGE deal, but we wanted something a little more neutral. Peanut made this decision for us when she vomited all over the bedding (she did this in our room too, but I was able to save the duvet cover) and the comforter ripped pretty badly when I put it in the washing machine for the second time to get all the vomit out! We HAD to get new bedding! So, here's what my husband chose!

SOOOO much better! What you can't see if that the sheets have lavender and white flowers on them! Jeff didn't realize this when he ordered them, so we still have a bit of femininity, but it's much more neutral and I love it!

I had to get rid of the pink picture frame and flowers that were on the nightstand. They didn't go with the new bedding!

The dresser top. I'm not entirely sure what I want on here, so for now, it's lots of pics, including one from my blonde hair days in high school!

I plan on showing the rest of the house in a series of posts like a lot of other bloggers have! Feel free to show your house off too! :)

Cheesecake Face

Jeff and I went to The Cheesecake Factory for a late lunch, then to see "The Informant, " which was an OK movie. I am oblivious and my reflexes are terrible, so Jeff was able to do this to me when I was trying to eat our vanilla bean cheesecake dessert! I suppose it's payback for me prohibiting the cake face at our wedding!

No, I did not get him back! He is way too quick, but I did try! :P

I *need* this!

Sweet, Sassy, Southern, and Classy posted this adorable necklace from Tiffany & Co. on her blog. The minute I saw it, I knew it had to be mine! It reminds me of a detail on a very important dress I wore a couple months ago...

I already e-mailed the link to Jeff informing him of my need to own this necklace. I'm thinking this would be a really good birthday or Christmas present? Both are coming up in December!

Catching Up

This past week I went back to teaching! I really lucked out this year with my students! They are nice kids, they seem happy to be in school, and I love the subjects I'm teaching! I know this could be honeymoon period for some of them (we've only been in school for 3 days) but overall, it's a nice group! This is my 4th year teaching, and I finally feel like I'm starting to get a handle on it! I haven't felt overwhelmed and exhausted with planning because I've taught all these subjects many times before, and I know a lot of my students from previous years! The weirdest thing for all of us has been getting used to saying/hearing "Mrs. K" instead of "Ms. N!" Yesterday afternoon, we all went to my friend's house after work for some drinks to celebrate the end of our first week! A few of us wound up staying pretty late and ordering pizza. It was so fun! We're planning on doing it again every few weeks!

Jeff and I want to have a Halloween party at our house this year! We definitely have the room for it, and I am getting so excited for fall and all things related to Halloween! Anyone have any good recipes or decoration ideas? Let me know if you do! I'm always looking for more! Jeff and I are thinking about dressing up as Link and Princess Zelda! Jeff is a video game freak, and I actually love that game too, so it could be really cute!

I've got to go! We're visiting my parents today! They haven't seen us both together since the wedding! I've been to visit during the summer because I worked in the town they live in, but we haven't had a chance to go together! We're all supposed to go to an outside festival thing, but OF COURSE, it's raining, so I don't think that's gonna happen! We got my mom a new laptop for her birthday, which is September 25th and we're giving it to her today! She's still using my old one from 2002 that I used through college, and it keeps dying! She's going to be so happy to get a new one and she has no idea we were planning to do this! I can't wait to see her reaction!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Best Husband Ever

I complained to my husband the other night that he is on his video games waaaaaaaaay too much and it was starting to get to me. Last night, he asked me to take a walk with him to Subway for dinner. It's not a super long walk, but it was enough there and back for us to spend some time talking about our days, reconnecting a bit and spending some time together. Then, this morning, I was woken up to a dozen red roses, a pumpkin spice latte, and a chocolate frosted donut! I went downstairs to find another bouquet of pink gerber daisies and other pretty flowers, and Jeff had gone to the store for me! A lot of this was a "happy 2 month wedding anniversary" present! We're seeing "Inglorious Basterds" tonight (I let him pick since he did so many awesome things for me this morning) and I am making dinner sloooooowly in the crockpot right now. Should be ready when we get back from the movie!

I am all for couples doing their own thing and having separate hobbies, but I really appreciated that my husband really listened to me when I was upset, and took the time to really show me he cares. Just taking a little time away from his games to talk to me and hang out meant a lot, and all the flowers and stuff were just icing on the cake (or donut!)

Marriage is definitely a lot of work, but soooo worth it! :)

Peanut And The Laser Pointer

video

We got a laser pointer as a cat toy for Peanut and she goes NUTS over it. I thought I'd share it here with you guys! She's too cute!
